Full Fare MetroCards: A full fare MetroCard provides three trips on both
subway and surface bus lines. A special four trip MetroCard is available upon the principal’s request. On most trips, you can use your card freely to transfer from bus to subway, bus to bus, or subway to bus.

Half-Fare Metro Cards: A Half-fare Student MetroCard is only good for use on surface transportation and is only valid for three trips per day.

When you get your Student MetroCard: Print your name
on the white strip on the back before you use your card. You are not permitted
to use Student MetroCard until your name is on it. Also, make
a note of the card’s number and keep the number in a safe place.

| When you can use your card: Good for use to and from school and school related activities during the hours specified on the back of the card. For most students, that means 5:30 AM to 8:30 PM. Your card is good for the entire school semester, but only on days when your school is in session.

ONLY for use by registered cardholder: A student MetroCard is only to be used by the student to whom it is issued, and whose name appears on the card. If you let anyone else use or borrow your MetroCard, a police officer or transit personnel can take away your card. If you alter your card, damage it on purpose, or use it in any other way than intended, it could be confiscated, and you may be subject to arrest or a fine.

| Card not working: If your student MetroCard is not
working, ask the station agent or bus operator for help. If it still doesn’t
work, return it immediately to your school pass coordinator. |

| Lost Card: If your student MetroCard gets lost or
stolen, call your school pass coordinator right away. If you can supply the
card’s number, it will help to trace it.

| Metro Card Exceptions: You cannot transfer between M27 and M50; M31 and M57; M96 and M106; Bx40 and Bx42; M1, M2, M3, and M4; Fifth Av and Madison Av buses; M101, M102, and M103; Lexington Av and Third Av buses; Bx1 and Bx2; and a bus going south on Grand Concourse and one going north.
