On Wednesday, August 17, 2022, the Division of School Facilities' CEO John Shea participated as a panelist in an Educational Facilities Roundtable Discussion titled: Smarter Ways to Manage Your School or University.

For the second year, the Department of Education (DOE) Office of Sustainability offered Custodial Supply Grant opportunities to support recycling and energy conservation projects in our schools! The purpose of the grant is to provide materials to Custodians that are essential to lower energy usage or better manage building recycling and waste. Custodians from 348 buildings were awarded materials valued at $939,918!

One of the grant opportunities, funded by Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS), was to support Local Law 33 Energy Conservation. This was targeted to school buildings that received a ā€œCā€ or ā€œDā€ score to help improve their energy performance. In addition, three waste grants were offered providing schools with tilt trucks, recycling bins, and cafeteria waste sorting stations. Congratulations to all Custodians who won a grant!
